Breakdown Procedure

In the event of a vehicle or a trailer breakdown, our driver would report the breakdown to the traffic office at Blacks Haulage Solutions; we would then notify the customer and the site awaiting delivery of the situation, we would aim to update both customer and site every 30 minutes with any progress or delays regarding the vehicle/trailer, all vehicles are fitted with tracking devices which allows us traffic office to see the trucks location at all times.

In the event that the vehicle has to await a roadside technician or the vehicle has to be towed to a site or Maintenance provider’s workshop, we would ensure a replacement tractor unit was provided to change over with the driver to allow the delivery scheduled to be met, we would communicate with both customer and site once the vehicle is mobile again, and if need be arrange an alternative delivery slot if the same day is inconvenient due to the delay.

If the trailer breaks down and is un repairable roadside and again needs towed to site or maintenance providers workshop, we would ensure safe transhipment onto a suitable trailer again to ensure delivery was fulfilled, also ensuring bio security is met and transhipment is completed safely.

We have an established contingency list of stand in hauliers in the event of any major breakdowns.
